Embassy of Mongolia will be closed on weekends and Mongolian public holidays.

For applicants’ convenience, we accept applications submitted by (1) the applicant, (2) a family member or a friend on behalf of the applicant provided the applicant has signed authorization/consent letter. The Embassy does not have provisions to process visa applications by post.

Please take the time to read all the relevant visa and travel information on our website, including frequently asked questions. If the answer to your question is already on our website, we will be unable to provide you with a further response.

Foreign nationals who wish to visit Mongolia must obtain visas of appropriate types, corresponding to the purpose of their visit. Nationals of those countries, which have concluded visa exemption agreements with Mongolia, are not required to obtain a visa, if the intended period of the visit is not beyond the period allowed under such arrangements. Applicants are advised that the visa officers are authorized to interview and demand necessary additional documents including employment confirmation and evidence of financial capabilities. The visa officers reserve the right to refuse a visa. If your visa is refused, the fee will not be refunded.

Obtaining a visa does not entitle you to enter the country. You are a subject to the immigration official’s clearance at the entry port as well as in the territory of Mongolia and liable for questioning, if you are traveling for purposes other than that stated in your application form.

The visa issued with validity of a maximum of 150 days from the visa-issue date for travel to Mongolia. Visa may be issued with single, double entries based on purpose of a visit. Duration of stay for entry visa with either single or double entries is up to 90 days, for entry visa with multiple entries and for temporary visitors is 30 days, and for transit visa with single or double entries is 10 days. For instance, entry visa for temporary visitors is valid for 150 days with a duration of 30 days.

A foreign national staying for more than 30 days in Mongolia must register with the Immigration Agency of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar or with its local branches within 7 business days after arriving in Mongolia.

 

  1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING MONGOLIAN VISA

3.1 (K2) tourist visa with single or double entry for up to 30 days:

 

  1. Application form (must be completed, signed and dated)
  2. Passport in original (must be valid for minimum of six months before your intended travel to Mongolia)
  3. Passport size photo (1 piece of 3.5х4.5 cm size most recent photo glued on the application form)
  4. Printed confirmation of flight/train tickets
  5. Printed confirmation of hotel booking or accommodation information in Mongolia
  6. Confirmation of visa fee payment*

If you are intended to stay for more than 30 days you need to obtain visa permission approved by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia. IMPORTANT NOTICE: 

Please be advised that Mongolians with foreign passports must apply for F2, F3 or H2 visas as relevant for family and friends visit purposes. Please read the relevant visa category requirements below.

 

3.2 (F2) visa with single or double entry for up to 90 days /for the former Mongolian citizens that are officially renounced Mongolian citizenship/:

 

  1. Application form (must be completed, signed and dated)
  2. Passport in original (must be valid for minimum of six months before your intended travel to Mongolia)
  3. Passport size photo (1 piece of 3.5х4.5 cm size most recent photo glued on the application form)
    d. Copy of the Presidential decree that officially renounced your Mongolian citizenship
  4. Printed confirmation of flight/train tickets
  5. Printed confirmation of hotel booking or accommodation information in Mongolia
  6. Confirmation of service fee payment*

If you are intended to stay for more than 90 days you need to obtain visa permission approved by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia. 3.3 (F3) visa with single or double entry for up to 90 days /for a child of a Mongolian citizen with foreign citizenship/:

  1. Application form (must be completed, signed and dated)
  2. Passport in original (must be valid for minimum of six months before your intended travel to Mongolia)
  3. Passport size photo (1 piece of 3.5х4.5 cm size most recent photo glued on the application form)
  4. Printed confirmation of flight/train tickets
  5. Printed confirmation of hotel booking or accommodation information in Mongolia
  6. A consent letter from a parent who is not traveling together.
  7. Copies of the birth certificate indicating parents’ names and a copy of the parent’s former citizenship documents are required
  8. Confirmation of service fee payment*

3.4 (H2) visa with single or double entry for up to 90 days /for Mongolian citizens with foreign citizenship/:

  1. Application form (must be fully completed, signed and dated)
  2. Passport in original (must be valid for minimum of six months before your intended travel to Mongolia)
  3. Passport size photo (1 piece of 3.5х4.5 cm size most recent photo glued on the application form)
  4. Printed confirmation of flight/train tickets
  5. Printed confirmation of hotel booking or accommodation information in Mongolia
  6. Confirmation of visa fee payment*
  7. Mongolian passport and ID.

3.5 Other types of visa /business, employment, student etc./:

For the other types of visas the Embassy will require the visa approval letter, as a supporting document that is arranged by your Mongolian host and approved by the Immigration Agency.

Prior coming to the visa section, please confirm whether the visa approval letter has been received by the Embassy.

3.6 *Visa fee and service charge:

The Embassy reserves the right to refuse a visa. In such cases, the visa fee and service fee are non-refundable and non-transferable.

The standard service fees (processed within 5 working days):

Single entry valid for up to 90 days (30 days) – £ 40
Double entry valid for up to 90 days (30 days) – £ 50
Multiple entry valid for up to 6 months – £ 80
Multiple entry valid for 6 to 12 months – £ 155

Service fee – £ 4 /applicable only for F2, F3 visa/

Please note that we do not accept cash, card or cheque. Applicants can make the payment either (1) via bank transfer and bring the printed confirmation of the transaction or (2) by taking a paying-in slip from the Embassy and pay at a nearby bank. Please make a payment only after you are certain to apply.

3.8 E-visa system

E-visa is available for Irish citizens only, you can apply for visa through https://www.evisa.mn

If you are intended to stay in Mongolia for a period of 30 days you can apply for following categories of visa:

  1. K1 – visa for tourists
  2. K4 – visa for participants in sports, cultural and arts events, and for creating films and contents
  3. K6 – visa for transit (up to 10 days)

 

  1. ENTRY/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS TO MONGOLIA

Anyone entering into Mongolia must:

  • take Covid-19 test within 72 hours before your departure,
    • present the Covid-19 vaccine certificate,
    • take Covid-19 test on arrival,
    • present a negative PCR/NAAT test if not vaccinated,

(Note: children aged 4 or under not required to take Covid-19 test)

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

All foreign passengers travelling directly from or transiting through South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe within the last 14 days are not allowed to enter into Mongolia, effective from 27th November 2021. The travel ban does not apply for Mongolian nationals and for the Mongolian permanent resident holders travelling to Mongolia. However, Mongolian nationals and the Mongolian permanent resident holders are  arriving from or making transit through South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe within the last 14 days must:

 

  • take Covid-19 test within 72 hours before your departure,
  • be quarantined for 10 days upon arrival at the government designated facilities,
  • take a day 3 and a day 6 Covid-19 PCR tests after arrival.
    (Note: children aged 4 or under not required to take Covid-19 test but will be quarantined at the designated facilities.)

 

  1. REQUIREMENTS FOR TEMPORARY ADMISSION OF MOTOR VEHICLES INTO MONGOLIA

According to national legislation, the following documents are required for foreign nationals, who are traveling with their vehicle to Mongolia:

  1. Vehicle certificate
  2. Passport of the vehicle owner (if the driver is not the legal owner of the vehicle, an owner’s notarized authorization letter is required)
  3. Original copy if the vehicle has a Carnet document (CPD is an international customs document)
  4. Contact details of the host in Mongolia (detailed information if the host is an individual). If the presented documents do not meet the requirements, vehicles are subject to customs clearance and tax deposit according to Mongolian law.
  5. Once the vehicle is cleared by the Customs authority to temporarily enter into Mongolia, an endorsement sheet, sealed with the customs inspection stamp, will be issued to the traveller or vehicle owner. A traveller should keep the endorsement sheet in the vehicle and return the sheet to the Customs authority when exiting the border.
  6. The Customs authority has a right to take necessary actions if the temporarily entered vehicle into Mongolia has not left the country.

 

  1. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR DOMESTIC PETS

The following documents are required:

  1. Pet Passport
    b. Medical certificate
    c. Vaccination, at least 14 days prior the arrival
    d. No injection administered within 24 hours of arrival

If the above-mentioned requirements are not met, medical examination shall be carried out and if necessary, a quarantine will be imposed.
