GOVERNMENT OF MONGOLIA LAUNCHES INFORMATION PORTAL TO BOOST TRADE

A new information portal mongoliatradeportal.gov.mn to boost trade in Mongolia launched on 11 December 2020. The new “Mongolia Trade Information Portal” aims to make import and export activity easier for businesses, especially for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

The portal is a web-based database system, providing international trade-related information including laws, administrative procedures and tariffs.

The new portal also provides information on trade agreements and international organizations supporting overseas business expansion, as well as tools enabling exporters to perform trade analysis, desk research and market surveys.

AMBASSADOR TULGA NARKHUU VISITED THE PARKER LIBRARY, CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

As part of the Government’s decision to establish the “Chinggis Khaan” Museum, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United Kingdom Tulga Narkhuu visited the University of Cambridge on 04 November 2020 and held meetings with the Master of Corpus Christi College Professor Christopher Kelly, Director of the Parker Library Dr Philippa Hoskin and Director of Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit Professor David Sneath.

During the meeting, the Ambassador viewed the manuscripts of William Rubruk’s journey, and of John de Plano Carpini’s journey being stored at the Parker Library, and discussed the possibility of receiving the facsimiles of these historical documents and sources related to Mongolian history and heritage and displaying them in the “Chinggis Khaan” Museum of Mongol Khans. The Parker Library has expressed their willingness to transfer the copy ownership rights to the Mongolian side.

The Parker Library is the College’s greatest national heritage treasure. It is internationally renowned for its important collection of Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, as well as valuable holdings of early printed books. It is one of the most significant surviving Renaissance libraries in Europe.

THE EMBASSY IS RESUMING ISSUANCE OF DIPLOMATIC, OFFICIAL AND BUSINESS VISAS

Starting from the 12 October 2020 the Embassy is resuming issuance of diplomatic, official and business visas. (categories D, A and B respectively).
At the same time the Embassy reconfirms that all travellers to Mongolia from overseas required to undergo a 21-day quarantine period under observation at a government-monitored quarantine facility for 21 days, expenses of which should be born by the inviting Mongolian party or by the traveller.
The Embassy also advises that the diplomatic and official visas obtained may be extended for of 30 days by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and business visas by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia.

EXTENSION OF THE PARTIAL UNDERTAKING OF HIGH-ALERT PREPAREDNESS

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Mongolia, on 14 September 2020, has decided to extend the partial undertaking of high-alert preparedness and continue the temporary suspension of the entry of all passengers through all border checkpoints of Mongolia until 31 October 2020. Furthermore, it is decided to cancel 14 days home-isolation regime following the completion of 21 days quarantine requirement at designated facilities of all passengers arriving in Mongolia.
